COVID-19

LOCKDOWN - Term 2

9th June

The Victorian Government has today announced that the circuit breaker action will end at 11.59pm on Thursday 10th June. This means that students will return to on-site learning at school from Friday 11th June. Student Return to On-site Guidelines will be sent to you by close of business tomorrow.

In the meantime, consistent with Department of Health advice for the broader community, secondary school students aged 12 or older, unless an exemption applies, must continue to wear a face mask at school:

  • in all indoor spaces
  • in all outdoor spaces when 1.5m physical distance cannot be maintained.

Visitors and parents must also observe this guidance.

Thank you for supporting your children and our school staff. We look forward to seeing our students back at school with their friends and teachers, with school opening at the standard time of 8:35.

The wellbeing of all our students is our priority and our school staff and teachers are here to support you and your family.  Information that might be of assistance to you in talking to your child about COVID-19 is available. If you are concerned about your wellbeing or that of your child, please contact the school so we can talk with you about how we can best assist. Other sources of support include: Parent Line 13 22 89 and Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800.

The Department’s COVID-19 helpline is also available on weekdays from 8.30am to 5pm on 1800 338 663. If you know a family who speak a language or languages other than English and you know they would like further information, interpreting services are available by phoning 131 450 first.
For families with a child with a disability, the Association for Children with a Disability (ACD) has additional information.

And, finally, a reminder that if you, your child, or a family member develops symptoms of COVID-19 you should get tested at a COVID-19 testing facility and stay home.

Each family should regularly check the list of public exposure sites in Victoria, and if anyone in the family has attended a site at the times listed, follow the instructions given.

Please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or contact the school if you have any concerns.

28th May

Due to the lockdown, schools will be closed to the majority of students and staff. However, there are provisions for schools to remain open for vulnerable students and the children of permitted workers who are not able to work from home.

If you believe that your son or daughter falls into either of these categories, please complete the application below so that we are able to make accommodations:

APPLICATION TO BE ON-SITE

  • Friday May 29th to Thursday June 3rd (closed May 28th, 5pm)
  • Friday June 4th to Thursday June 10th (closed June 3rd, 4pm)

Please ensure that the form is completed before your child(ren) presents at school.

It is expected that students will participate fully in the remote learning during this circuit breaker lockdown.

The College will continue to respond to the announcements made by the State Government and communicate to students and parents via Compass and emails.

As with last year, we will continue to support students with both their wellbeing and learning while under lockdown. Home Group teachers and class teachers will be contactable through the week, as will our Wellbeing Team. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any concerns regarding your child’s wellbeing.

While this is dispiriting, it does appear that it is a temporary restriction only, one designed to prevent the prolonged restrictions we all endured last year. We know that our approach to learning remotely is effective, and that our students and staff are incredibly resilient and adaptive.

I wish you all the best during this difficult time and I wish that you and your families remain safe and well and that we resume a more normal life on Friday.
