Instrumental Hire Agreement

As part of the CESC instrumental music program, students may be required to hire specialist instruments to facilitate home-practice, performance opportunities and ensemble rehearsals.

The college has purchased an incredible assortment of instruments to support the growth of an ensemble program. Students who engage in IM lessons at the college may be able to hire that specific instrument for the time that they are learning.

Students wishing to hire an instrument will need to contribute an amount of $220. $100 of this contribution will be returned to families once a student has completed their lessons or graduated the college, whichever comes first. The other $100 will go towards broader program operations to ensure the growth of the instrumental music program. Finally, $20 will include a Standard of Excellence Orchestral music book for students to keep.

Breakdown of $220 total per year:

  • Instrument bond – $100
    • To be returned to families after a student finishes lessons
  • Program operations including – $100
    • Instrument repairs/servicing
    • Further Instrument Purchases
  • Standard of Excellence Orchestral Book – $20
    • Specific to instrument being hired
    • Students own copy to keep and write in

Instruments that students can choose to hire in 2024, T2 include:

  • Trumpet
  • Flute
  • Trombone
  • Clarinet
  • Euphonium
  • Alto Saxophone
  • Tenor Saxophone
  • Percussion Kit
    • inc. Glockenspiel, drum pack, sticks

Students learning an instrument in successive years will only be required to contribute $100 toward program operations each year they hire the instrument. Families will still receive their instrument ‘bond’ back upon finishing instrumental lessons or completing schooling.

Students can choose to BYO instrument which will not incur a hiring contribution. Students will need to purchase a standard of excellence orchestral book, either privately or from the college ($20).
